As I began reading Coping by C.R. Snyder, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But after reading through all 368 pages, I can confidently say that this book is a must-read for anyone looking to enhance their coping skills.

Snyder delves deep into the topic of coping, breaking it down into manageable chunks for readers to understand and apply in their own lives. He explores different forms of coping – problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping – and provides practical advice on how to implement them effectively.

One aspect of the book that really resonated with me was Snyder’s emphasis on the importance of mindset when it comes to coping. He discusses the concept of “hardiness” – a combination of resilience, optimism, and a sense of control – and how cultivating these traits can lead to better coping outcomes. This idea felt particularly relevant in our current world where we are constantly bombarded with stressors that can leave us feeling overwhelmed.
